Burton’s Biscuits are owned by a Private Equity Owned business Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP or Teachers for short) and form part of their c.$200 B Net Assets portfolio.   Working in partnership with Teachers, has allowed Burtons Biscuits to become a forward thinking and progressive business.

 

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s, also in 2019 we acquired Scottish bakers Paterson Arran. This increases our baking capabilities across a number of new sweet and savoury categories.

 

As a result, we now have 6 bakery sites across the UK, located in Blackpool, Livingston, Edinburgh, Dorset, Isle of Arran and Llantarnam, with our head office in St Albans.   In total we employ circa 2,000 people around across our locations.

What does your typical day look like?

Every day is different at Burton’s Biscuit Company, and working in our projects team is no different.  Although based at our Llantarnam bakery, you will be part of our central project management team ensure the wider programme is met & delivered. Supporting a number of Project Managers, but acting as the go to person for all projects related to the Llantarnam bakery, you will have full view of project deadlines and work cross functionally with NPD, Quality, Specifications, Planning & Operations, Artwork & Packaging to ensure all key deadlines are on track. Feeding back information into the central project team as required.

 

This will be a very busy role, not only will you build great relationships with all areas of the bakery, but you will play a key role in ensuring process are streamlines, creating an effective and harmonious working environment. Acting as the main Bakery point of contact to connect the Project Managers and the bakery on tasks, timelines, risks ensuring the programme is delivered on time.

 

Working closely with the NPD team to coordinate programme view on sample requests, trial requests, key NPD deadlines. 

Representing the PM function as a process champion and ensuring adherence at the bakery. 

 

 

Pretty quickly you will also become responsible for:

 

Programme Call – Owner (agenda driven by bakery and PMs)

- Set up the pre-defines agenda and log Programme call bakery minutes for cross-functional team at site, ensure clarity on timescales and follow up.

 

Project Brief Calls

- Coordinate Project Brief Calls, getting cross functional input & act as the bakery representative on the call

- Capture bakery Feasibility discussions to feedback to Project Manager(s).

 

Sample Ordering & Dispatch

- Coordinating 1st production samples tracker in partnership with QA/NPD and as an output from bakery programme calls

 

What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

For this role you don’t need to have worked in a pure project role before, but this would suit someone who has experience in a fast paced environment, working to deadlines at short notice. You may already be working in manufacturing and have a great understand of the manufacturing process and ways of working and looking to take a step into a new career path. 

 

Final part of the mix.
