Salary: Competitive Salary plus benefits to include, 25 days, company pension, free parking

 

Contract: Permanent full time role

 

Hours: Monday – Friday Day Shift, with some flex to meet the needs of the business from time to time.

Burton’s Biscuits are owned by a Private Equity Owned business Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP or Teachers for short) and form part of their c.$200 B Net Assets portfolio.   Working in partnership with Teachers, has allowed Burtons Biscuits to become a forward thinking and progressive business.

 

In order to ensure we can continue to make fantastic biscuits, and to help us on this amazing journey, we are proud to announce that in 2019 we completed the acquisition of a premium sweet and savoury biscuit manufacturer Thomas Fudge’s, also in 2019 we acquired Scottish bakers Paterson Arran. This increases our baking capabilities across a number of new sweet and savoury categories.

 

As a result, we now have 6 bakery sites across the UK, located in Blackpool, Livingston, Edinburgh, Dorset, Isle of Arran and Llantarnam, with our head office in St Albans.   In total we employ circa 2,000 people around across our locations.

Why work as part of the Burton’s Biscuit Family as our Reliability Engineer?

You will be responsible for using the principles of performance evaluation and prediction to facilitate the improvement of safety, reliability, maintainability and operability of physical assets. You will support the development and assessment of condition monitoring and will both lead and support reliability improvement projects.

 

Our Blackpool bakery and has been in operation for over 40 years, along with a large proportion of our equipment. This will be a key role to ensure all bakery equipment remains in optimum condition and allows the bakery to continue to hit and achieve its targets. This a role where you can make real strategic recommendations which can lead to capex investment in order to solve commercial reliability concerns. 

 

The reliability strategy is still in its infancy, which means they are plenty of projects for you to influence and own.

 

What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

This a fantastic role for a time served Electrical / Mechanical engineer who likes to get hands on, problem solve and drive long term Reliability solutions. They will be plenty to get stuck into so you will need to be self-motivated with a can-do attitude & a genuine willingness to learn and develop.

 

While it is not essential you have worked in a pure reliability role, it is essential that you can clearly demonstrate on you CV that you have completed certain reliability aspects to your previous roles especially around condition monitoring or predictive maintenance techniques.

 

It is highly desirable you have come from a fast paced manufacturing environment, but other sectors will be considered. 

 

As this is a cross functional role, the ability to build key relationships quickly across various teams is essential, excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be working within a large and busy fast paced bakery.
