We now have six bakery sites across the UK, located in Blackpool, Livingston, Edinburgh, Dorset, Isle of Arran and Llantarnam, with our head office in St Albans. In total, we employ circa 2,000 people around across our locations.
Why work as part of our NPD Team?
You’ll be part of our product development team based at our Edinburgh bakery, reporting into the Senior Product Development Manager, but working closely with the Sales and Marketing Teams. Great tasting biscuits don’t happen by accident and you will take responsibility for delivering an exciting pipeline of projects for both Burton’s Brands and key retailers. You will be responsible for ensuring the commercial and operational feasibility of all new products and also that all technical R&D documents are completed for commercial scale up’s & bakery trials.
A key focus will also be helping manage the broader bakery agenda including procurement led projects and working with the bakery team to help resolve baking technical issues during production.
Edinburgh is our NPD centre of excellence and was where the magic happened to create the Maltesers Biscuit which is now the biggest biscuit launch of 2020. You’ll get to work alongside innovative teams and individuals every single day and get access to our amazing NPD Kitchen onsite.
What are the key ingredients needed for the role?
To be an NPD Manager for Burton’s Biscuits we are looking for someone to have a Food Science, Food Technology or relevant science related degree.
Previous experience as an NPD Manager or senior NPD/R&D Product Development Technologist who is ready to take the next step. It would be great if you can demonstrate the scaling up process from trial to a commercial manufacturing operation.
Experience of working in a commercial manufacturing environment where baking has been a key element in the manufacturing process would be ideal, as would being able to demonstrate experience in building successful retailer relationships.

Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders quickly, not afraid to get hands on and is passionate and creating exciting products.
