Location: Sighthill Industrial Estate, Edinburgh

Rate of Pay: £Competitive Hourly Rate 

Contract: Permanent

Hours/Shift Pattern: 

2 x Backshift Opportunity - 2pm - 10pm  (Shift pattern Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday from January to June 4 days a week on a 30 hour contract then move to Monday - Friday from July to December 37.5 hour contract

Why work as part of our Production team?

We are looking for self-motivated and dedicated individuals who are seeking a challenging and rewarding role at the heart of our business at our Edinburgh Bakery. As a recorder you will carry out all duties to ensure suitable checks are completed on finished packed products and to build sound pallets of finished product and accurately record all output from the production unit.

What does your typical day look like?

·        Accurately enter the date code and day letter, as specified by the Daily Production Schedule, into the Alphadot coding machine or hand date stamp

·        Maintain the Coding and Tape Machines

·        Referring to the pallet specification, build sound pallets of finished product enabling safe transport to the Warehouse for pallet wrapping

·        Complete all relevant paperwork and record details of all finished product generated by the shift

·        Open and repackage rejected packed product

·        Ensure the good housekeeping of the packing floor area

·        At the request of the Line Co-Ordinator, train new recorders to a satisfactory standard


What are the key ingredients needed for the role?

·        Team Work - Working together as part of a team to ensure we make great biscuits

·        Ability to work on own initiative “Making the right decisions based on what is best for Burtons”

·        Experience of a machine, production or warehouse operation in a manufacturing environment an advantage 

·        Problem Solving – ability to react to fault finding skills and have the ability to work with the minimum amount of supervision

·        Good numeric skills and attention to detail.

·        A flexible and self-motivated person 

·        Good communication skills

·        Excellent time keeping and attendance record

·        Awareness of health and safety and food safety / hygiene requirements is desirable

·        Experience within the food manufacturing environment desirable
