With an ever increasing requirement to lead the sustainability agenda in our category and drive innovation across our entire portfolio we are looking to recruit a Group Packaging Controller.
Location: This role can be based from our St Albans Head Office, Hertfordshire, or from one of our Bakeries based in either Blackpool, Lancashire, or Edinburgh.
Contract: Full time, permanent

As our Group Packaging Controller, you will report directly into the Marketing Director and will be responsible for defining and delivering the Packaging Innovation and Sustainability agendas, as well as managing our team of bakery-based packaging technologists to deliver the NPD, Procurement and Operational Efficiency agendas.
You will shape and directly influence the customer’s perception of Burton’s Biscuits as a forward-thinking innovator. This will involve you proactively sourcing new information and attending relevant networking and exhibitions to get the most up to date best practices and relevant knowledge, which you will present back into the business.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the business strategy beyond the packaging agenda, working with the Board and your peers to accelerate our growth and overdeliver against our strategic objectives.
What are the key ingredients needed for the role?
You will need to be an expert in FMCG packaging with a proven track record of creating and implementing the strategic agenda for packaging, delivering operational and procurement agendas, leading a high performing team and influencing key senior stakeholders.
You need to be able evidence knowledge and exposure to sustainability & innovation projects, including seeing these through to completion. You will need to have strong systems and software knowledge eg Microsoft packages, SAP, Adobe Illustrator CS4, Cape and Apple Systems.
Ideally you will have had experience of working with Printed Flexibles, Cartons, Tins, Corrugated and Thermoformed packaging components desirable.
