Job purpose

 

The purpose of our Quality department is to ensure that all our products meet high standards and our customer requirements and specifications. The role of Quality Technician will contribute to the implementation of an effective quality assurance culture, developing systems and processes to ensure the company has effective quality assurance. The role will monitor these systems to ensure that areas of good practice and concerns are raised and shared with the Quality Manager.

To work effectively and ensure that Food Safety, Integrity, Quality and Legality are maintained within the business.


Key accountabilities

 

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all departments to promote team working and a common purpose in the achievement of technical department and company goals. 
  • Support the team during side audits by third party.
  • Ensure that packaging and raw materials inspection schedules are completed. 
  • Create Quality standards for inspections and taste panels. Highlight missing standards to Quality Manager. 
  • Metal detector and checkweigher set up; Monitor CCP’s to ensure compliance; transfer data from checkweigher
  • Printers programming and Auto coding update
  • Conduct temperature and calibration checks to daily and weekly requirements. 
  • Ensure that hygiene and micro-swabbing adhere to the pre-defined schedule, monitor product changeover cleaning process
  • Carry out daily taste panels. 
  • Complete GMP, glass and blade audits as per schedule
  • Carry out quality control in the factory
  • Carry out fracturing and moisture checks
  • Clear communication of non-compliances and follow up with appropriate corrective action. 
  • Ensure due diligence documentation compliance 
  • COC & COA Management and linking them to goods in spreadsheet
  • To drive a ‘continuous improvement’ culture throughout the department. 
  • Challenge existing practices and behaviours where these deviate from the organisations desired culture.
  • Support the delivery of greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of any unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working
  • Ensure food safety legislation is adhered to within all areas of the factory and warehouse.

Qualifications/Experience/Technical Skills

 

  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality improvement is desirable. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels within the organisation 
  • Ability to multi task and understand departmental priorities 
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail skills
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of all Microsoft office packages
  • Self-motivated and ability to work autonomously 
  • Report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Confidence to challenge. 
  • Proactive approach.
  • Previous experience of working within Food Manufacturing is essential 
  • Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing Certificate 
  • Previous experience of working to BRC Food standards is desirable
