Within our Burton’s group, we have 6 bakery sites across the UK, located in Blackpool, Livingston, Edinburgh, Dorset, Isle of Arran and Llantarnam, with our head office in St Albans. In total we employ circa 2,100 people around across our locations.

What does your typical day look like?
You will be responsible for the delivery of Burtons Best Practice engineering strategy within our Blackpool bakery, this includes creating and delivering the annual engineering improvement plans needed to deliver our yearly budget and our other strategic objectives. As a key member of the site leadership team , you will have a major contribution in delivering the overall success of the site.
Other key actions will be but not limited to:
- To ensure that our engineering and safety systems are used to improve the safety and well being of our employees
- Lead the engineering team to continuously improve the plant reliability whilst working within the agreed engineering budget
- Create with support for the group engineering manager , an improvement plan to help delivery of site financial budget aligned with the delivery of KPI's
- support , motivate , develop and coach the team in order to recognise and reward performance and drive robust succession planning
- Providing /support /maintain all legislative and compliance activity as required
What are the key ingredients needed for the role?
You will need previous experience of leading an engineering team in excess of 25 people. A minimum HNC/HND in electrical or mechanical discipline, Continuous improvement experience , IOSH or NEBOSH trained.
You will need to be confident developing high performing teams and experience of working in a unionised environment.
