The Burton's Biscuit Company strengthens international presence through enhanced distribution agreement with Loblaws

The Burton’s Biscuit Company, a leading player in the UK biscuit market, has agreed a new distribution arrangement with Loblaws, Canada’s leading food retailer, to further extend the presence of its Cadbury biscuits range across Canada.

The upweighted distribution arrangement will see the company, which produces Cadbury biscuits under licence, introduce a suit of mainstream lines such as Cadbury Fingers into Loblaws outlets. The export agreement aims to build on the success of the more seasonal Cadbury biscuit ranges currently available through Loblaws.

From early next year, a total of 11 of the company’s most successful SKUs will be available through more than half of Loblaws’ grocery outlets across Canada.

Steve Newiss, Chief Commercial Officer at the Burton’s Biscuit Company, commented: “The Canadian market presents a significant opportunity for the Burton’s Biscuit Company to bring much-loved British products abroad. The Cadbury brand has a unique appeal in Canada, given the country’s cultural links to the UK, so we’re optimistic we’ll be able to build further momentum in the market through Loblaws.”

The announcement further supports the company’s ambitious international growth strategy and follows a recent deal signed with leading global retailer Walmart, for the distribution of its Cadbury Fingers line throughout North and South America.

Newiss added: “Further expanding our international footprint is a core pillar of our growth strategy, as we continue to go from strength to strength.”
