Ben Boase

Corporate Strategy & Development Director

1)    When and why did you join Burton’s?

I joined the business in July 2010 after working with the company for several months as a consultant with Deloitte.  I thought it presented a great opportunity to leave professional services and embark on a new career at a large, well respected corporation that owns some of the UK’s most loved brands.  I was impressed by the talent within the business throughout all functions, and was excited by the challenges presented by a fast paced FMCG environment.

2)    How is the Burton’s Biscuit Company different to the others in the market?

Burton’s is very entrepreneurial, which makes the company ‘fleet of foot’ across all areas and well prepared to adapt to a frequently changing market place and economic conditions.  This is a unique characteristic for a business of this scale and means more flexibility which encourages creative solutions.

3)    What is a particular career highlight of yours?

Joining the Board at Burton’s is my biggest career highlight so far!  That, and eating a warm Jammie Dodger straight off the line.

4)    What is your favourite biscuit moment?

The ‘Tim Tam Slammer’.  This entails biting diagonal corners off a Tim Tam and using it as a straw to drink your tea or coffee…whilst making sure that you eat it before it falls apart in your drink!  (I did grow up in Australia!)

5)    What does ‘Making Every Day More of a Treat’ mean to you?

Ensuring, through the way we work, that every day is a treat for those associated with Burton’s.  From our employees, customers, suppliers and, most importantly, to those that consume our delicious biscuits every day.
